
Founded in 1907, it is a large comprehensive teaching hospital directly under the National Health Commission and one of the hospitals authorized to use the name of the Red Cross Society of China, enjoying a high reputation nationwide. It is the first public hospital directly under a ministry in Mainland China to receive JCI accreditation. It has been honored as a National Civilized Unit, awarded the National May Day Labor Medal, and received the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, among other accolades. It ranks among the top in the China Hospital Ranking published by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University. The hospital hosts the National Center for Neurological Diseases and the National Center for Infectious Diseases. It boasts 10 key disciplines designated by the Ministry of Education, including neurosurgery, hand surgery, dermatology, neurology, and infectious diseases. It has established cooperative relationships with internationally renowned institutions and hospitals, such as Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University in the United States. The hospital is equipped with internationally advanced medical devices including PET/CT, CyberKnife, intraoperative MRI, and Gamma Knife.
